ISO Inlands / Gala - Datchet Water SC (12th & 13th October 2002)

Despite grey skies and a half empty reservoir eighteen ISOs' enjoyed close racing and good breeze. The event was once again dominated by Team RWO, but
both Ross Ashton \ Chris Birch [822]and Jony Wells \ "Bugsy" [1176] proving that they are beatable.

Day one was breezy with a short course set across the reservoir testing everyones boat handling to the full. All races got away cleanly, RWO taking first from Penny Gordon\Brian Greensmith [773] with Mike and Dean Lillywhite [815] in third.

Race two was again taken by RWO from Ian & Katie Keam-George with Gorton \ Greensmith [773] in third. Race three saw Wells \ "Bugsy" [1176] first to the windward mark with RWO close behind. The second beat saw this pair get the the two best starts out of the Buzz fleet, leaving their close rivals in the third rank. This race eventually saw RWO overhaul Wells \ "Bugsy" [1176], leaving third to Mike&Dean Lillywhite [815].

Overnight saw Gorton \ Greensmith [773] lying a very creditable second to Team RWO, after a great first day on the water, posting 2, 3 & 5. Day two saw the wind shift to allow the course to be set using the length of the reservoir. Still breeze, but no let up from the drizzle and the roar of jets overhead.

Race four brought Ashton \ Birch [822] alive with some of the dazzling pace they showed at the King George reservoir, taking a first from Wells \ "Bugsy"
[1176], with Team RWO pushed back to third. Race five went back to RWO from Ian & Katie Keam George [1188], with Ashton \ Birch third. Race six started in a down pour, with a heavily biased line which allowed Wells \ "Bugsy" [1176] take pole and lay the mark in one, only to be rolled by Ashton\Birch, posting their second race win of the day leaving RWO second and Ian and katie Keam-George third.

Pete Lindley & Jonny Backhouse, Team RWO, became the Inland Champions with the ever consistant Ian and Katie Keam-George [1188] a well deserved second, discarding a fourth, and Ross Ashton and Chris Birch [822] jumped to third after their surge on day two.
