Pre-Inlands ISO Training Day

Well it was a bit wet and very windy for the training day. Rob Howlett and myself used an Annual Leave day each and our own personal time, so to ensure this training day happened. Mick and Matthew came down from Hartlepool with their boat and Hugh came across from Norfolk with his notepad and pen.

We ran through the rigging of the boat, then progressed through the setting up of the boat and what rope does what, when to use it and how much to pull it - if at all. Rob gave me a good tip - to help demonstrate what each rope does, you need rig tension on and both sails up. Problem is it was flippin windy, gusty and swirly, so we actioned Rob's tip and tipped 1013 on her side on dry land so to continue running through the setup without causing her any damage. Nice one Rob!

After the setup and answering many questions, the wind was still up, so we retired to the club house for a cuppa and to skim through some video footage of previous training days. An hour later the weather was still bleak, so we packed the boats up and the majority went off to put up tents because they were roughy toughy ISO sailors and a little breath of force 6 and horizontal rain doesn't put them off sleeping in tents!

We then retired at 15:00 to the pub to continue the training and general socialising over a beer and food.

Thanks to those who made the effort to turn up, shame about the weather, but that is our sport at the end of the day!
